In the hyper-masculine world of trading, we are often told to “be stoic,” which most interpret as having no feelings at all. But trying to trade without emotion is like driving without a dashboard. When you suppress your anxiety or frustration, you aren’t being “strong”; you are activating a Detached Protector coping style. This internal armor makes you feel numb or aloof, but it also severs the connection between your strategy and your nervous system. By the time you realize you’re in a “Red Zone” state, the damage to your P&L is already done because you ignored the subtle “Static” your body was sending you minutes earlier.

The original intent of Stoicism, founded by Zeno, was to achieve emotional balance and rationality through the Dichotomy of Control, focusing only on what you can influence.
